New Delhi: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji participated in a ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ programme at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Park in Delhi on September 25, marking the 110th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Ji.
The programme brought traditional devotional music into a contemporary concert-style setting, with a large gathering that included young participants. Shri Narendra Modi Ji was seen listening to the bhajans, clapping along with the performances and playing a tambourine during the programme.
Devotion Meets a Contemporary Format
‘Bhajan Clubbing’ has emerged as a modern presentation of devotional music, combining traditional bhajans with the energy and production style associated with live concerts. The format has attracted particular attention among younger audiences while retaining devotional songs at its core.
Shri Narendra Modi Ji had earlier spoken about the trend during his Mann Ki Baat programme, describing it as a combination of devotion, culture, spirituality and modernity that was gaining interest among younger generations.
The Delhi programme also commemorated the legacy of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Ji, a prominent Bharatiya Jana Sangh leader associated with the philosophy of Antyodaya, which emphasises the welfare and upliftment of the poorest sections of society.
