Mohan Bhagwat Calls for Respect Across Forms of Worship at Ujjain Yuva Dharma Sansad
Ujjain: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has emphasised the importance of respecting different forms of worship while remaining committed to one’s own faith and traditions.
Addressing the Yuva Dharma Sansad in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, Bhagwat spoke to young participants about dharma, individual responsibility, humility and religious coexistence. He welcomed the participation of younger generations in discussions on spiritual and social values.
Dharma Is Relevant Throughout Life
Bhagwat challenged the perception that religious or spiritual learning should be reserved for old age.
Referring to traditional texts such as the Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana, he said dharma should be understood as something connected with a person's entire life rather than an activity taken up only after retirement.
According to him, dharma is reflected in a person's behaviour, responsibilities and relationship with society. He referred to concepts such as Putra Dharma, Raj Dharma and Manav Dharma to explain how different responsibilities form part of everyday conduct.
Respect for Different Paths of Worship
A major part of Bhagwat's address focused on coexistence among different traditions.
He said individuals can remain firmly connected to the form of worship received through their family, guru or tradition while also respecting the spiritual practices followed by others.
His remarks presented respect for different paths of worship and commitment to one's own tradition as compatible principles rather than opposing ideas.
Bhagwat Warns Against Ego and Arrogance
The RSS chief also cautioned young people against excessive pride and the belief that everything can happen according to an individual's wishes.
He said human beings should recognise that life and the natural world do not operate entirely according to personal control. Humility, responsibility and disciplined conduct were among the themes highlighted during his address.
Youth and Dharma
Bhagwat expressed satisfaction that members of the younger generation were participating in discussions about dharma.
He argued that dharma should not remain limited to books or speeches but should find expression through everyday conduct and the fulfilment of responsibilities towards other people and society.
The Ujjain gathering brought together discussions on spirituality, social responsibility and the role of dharma in contemporary life, with Bhagwat urging young people to combine personal conviction with respect for the traditions followed by others.
